Landen's First Christmas

Landen was so excited for Santa to come that he didn't sleep. It is starting already. (The doc thinks he's teething, but that's another story for another post) He woke up to his first stocking! It is even a John Deere stocking! Imagine that!



In his stocking, he got a new hat, to keep him warm while he was outside. Mom, got a car charger for her phone. Landen liked that too.


He also got a new onsie. It says, "One Tough Tractor" It is a little big, but he liked it and drooled all over it. He also has his butterfly teething ring. (it vibrates)
Grandma gave him this cow-washcloth-teething-blanket. He loves it.

Landen also got some baby food, spoons and bowls in his stocking. He also got a stuffed puppy, books (which he loves!), an exersaucer, a john deere overall outfit, a tummy time mat, and pajamas. I think he still liked the tree with it's lights the best. But he seemed pretty happy and content all day.

Our Christmas was very fun. We headed up to Rexburg to stay with my parents on Tuesday night. We arrived at about 11, and went to bed shortly after we arrived. Wednesday was alot of fun! We hung out and enjoyed watching the snow fall. Aley and Jerry and their 2 year old daughter Julie came over for dinner and stayed for our Christmas Eve traditional program -- reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, singing Christmas Carols, singing Christmas Hymns and reading the Christmas Story -- and we really enjoyed getting to now them better. Michael was very glad for some time to relax and stay inside all toasty warm.

Christmas day, we enjoyed opening stockings and presents. We headed out to the sand dunes for our traditional sledding excursion. Well, since it snowed over a foot between Christmas Eve and the time we left, the roads were not plowed. Michael drove the Tahoe (with 4-wheel drive) and we made it mostly there before the Civic, which was behind us, and Jacob was driving got stuck. There was so much snow, they had been plowing for a few miles, so I'm impressed they made it that far. We then all squished in the Tahoe and hooked Mat up behind us and plowed on. Not even unplowed roads could stop us!

The dunes were deserted. We had fun anyway. It was windy and hard to climb to the top, so us girls hung out mostly at the bottom after a few runs. Once we all tired of the sledding, we had a snowball and pushing fight. It was almost fun because the snow was perfect conditions for such activities. We had a good time, and managed to make it back without getting stuck again.

Afterwards, we played catch phrase for hours on end. And everyone played! I can't wait for everyone to get together and play again. I think this will be the next game we play. And then talked. It was really fun to hang out with the family.

Friday, the boys went out shooting. And when they got home, Nicole and I were going to take Mom out to lunch for her birthday, but Michael and Dad decided to go to Dubios to look at a very large hay farm. (surprised?) So, we ended up taking Landen. He was actually really good while we ate lunch and shopped. We came home and played Michael's Christmas present, The John Deere Family Farm game. It was really fun. It has little tractors and focuses on the plowing and planting of crops. It was really fun, but it's sort of a long game. We were going to go home, but decided to get up and leave Saturday morning.

When we arrived home, we were greeted with about a foot and half of snow and got stuck in our driveway. The snow plow had made us a good pile to get through. Of course, the tractor wouldn't start and the truck wasn't looking like it would make it. Besides, with the car stuck, it would have been impossible to ge to the road anyway. Our neighbor pulled us out and Michael borrowed a big tractor from Gary and got the driveway plowed. It was out first real snow experience out here in the country, but it was fun. I shoved the steps and the sidewalk.

And that was Christmas! Michael went back to work and things have been pretty normal since then around here.
