Since Landen has turned 4 months old, he has started eating rice cereal. Landen has been advancing physically quite quickly and seemed very ready to start. Earlier, we showed a video of his first meals, and many meals later, he seems to have gotten the hang of it.
He often tries to steal the spoon and feed himself. He sticks it in his mouth and it keeps going and then he gets this look like, "It's not suppose to feel like this," as he starts to gag because it's to far into his mouth. I then pull it out, and he gets mad because I'm helping. It's pretty funny.
Landen absolutely refuses to take a bottle. He simply chews on the nipple on then spits it out and cries. No amount of coaxing, attempts, example or tricks have been able to break this. This makes it hard for me to leave him for any amount of time. Especially since, nursing has also become a comfort item for him and when I leave him, he gets distressed and pretty much nothing but nursing will calm him down. We have been trying to push the bottle harder since we're working on the weight gain and trying to supplement him with a bottle of formula once a day.
Well, he has started to take an interest in cups and has managed a few sips from my glass. Even though he is small, he has been hitting many physical milestone early. Usually, you can introduce a sippy cup successfully around 6 months. Well, here you have at! At 4 1/2 months we have partially successfully introduced the sippy cup. I say partially, because he does not "suck" on it, he bites it, which still releases liquid anyway. But he has successfully drank a few cups of formula and some pedialyte.

What a little man - he must have a great grip to be able to hold his spoon and a cup! I've heard of other people struggling with a bottle, so maybe the sippy will be your secret weapon. :)
